Berry Gordy was shocked to learn of this from Stevie Wonder and Berry Gord agreed to Stevie Wonder's demand for more autonomy and complete creative control as well as rights to all of his songs. Stevie Wonder signed a 13 million dollar MoTown Records contract in 1972. This entitles Stevie Wonder to a higher royalty rate and more full creative control and rights to his own songs, which was not a lot of artists could get in the previous years. The contract allowed Wonder's songs to talk about controversial issues such as poverty, war, drugs and politics.Stevie is well-known for his songs about politics, including You Haven't Done Nothing that took a political swipe at Richard Nixon. In 1972, he came out with Music Of My Mind, his first album under the brand new MoTown agreement. In late 1972 Stevie Wonder released an album that is still regarded as a significant piece of music, called Talking Book. It included Superstition as the number one song.
